Scott A. Sinder, Partner, Steptoe & Johnson LLP
Scott A. Sinder is a partner in the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, where he is Chair of the Government Affairs & Public Policy practice and a member of the Appellate & Supreme Court practice, focusing on government relations, insurance, appellate litigation, and a member of the crisis management practice. Mr. Sinder represents clients on a spectrum of issues in state and federal trial and appellate courts, in state legislatures and Congress, and before regulatory agencies. He also consults on issues related to the political process, including election financing law, campaign finance, and political law generally. Mr. Sinder counsels clients on privacy law, and the constitutional/appellate practice, and is an experienced commercial and public law litigator. His work in these areas has included Constitutional, class action, antitrust, copyright, redistricting. Mr. Sinder currently serves as the outside General Counsel for CIAB. He was intimately involved in the development of the legislation for CIAB and other clients and also remains very engaged in the implementation rulemaking procedures.
Joel Wood, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, The Council
Joel Wood is senior vice president of government affairs for The Council. He is The Council's top lobbyist on Capitol Hill and is the chief administrator of the group's political action committee. Prior to joining The Council, he spent four years as assistant vice president for government affairs for the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents. Mr. Wood worked for six years on Capitol Hill as press secretary and legislative director.
